According to a report in the Australian Financial Review, the InterContinental Hotels Group plans to open three new hotels in Melbourne, Australia. Travellers to Melbourne's booming Carlton district will have a new global-branded hotel at home when Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton opens in the first half of 2021. Crownes Plaza Victoria Carlton will offer everything guests would expect from the world's leading luxury brand. It will include a state-of-the-art fitness centre, a spa and fitness centre, a full-service restaurant and a bar.
Signed in May 2017 by InterContinental Hotels Group and Express Group, the parent company of Crownes Plaza, Pro - Invested has 299 guest rooms.
IHG currently operates 56 hotels under four brands in Australasia, including the Holiday Inn Express brand, 34 are in the planning stages and the first new hotel in Australia, the InterContinental Hotel Melbourne, is due to open in 2020 on the northern outskirts of Coburg. Other IH G hotels eligible for the region are Pro-Invested hotels in Adelaide, Newcastle, Melbourne Southbank and Queenstown, all operated under the Holiday Inn express brand.
